Welcome Message from the Chairman of the Executive Board of Metropolis GZM

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear Competitors, Distinguished Guests,

it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Metropolis GZM. I am happy that the 17th World Bridge Series is held here—in a place which has for many years hosted events of international importance and has successfully connected sports, culture, and science.

Duplicate bridge is a unique discipline which demands strategic thinking, concentration, and outstanding teamwork. We are therefore especially pleased that the competitors from many countries arrive to our metropolis, making this competition not only a celebration of sporting excellence but also an opportunity to build relationships and exchange experiences beyond borders.

I hope that your stay in GZM will give you a chance to discover our region –  with rich history, remarkable industrial heritage, and dynamic development. Our metropolis, made up of 41 municipalities and communes, is a place which embraces people, new ideas, and international cooperation.

I wish all competitors every success at the tables, I also extend my wishes to the organizers for the smooth and successful running of the Series. I am confident that this year’s edition will remain in the participants’ memories for many years to come, and that the time you spend in our metropolis will be the source of lasting memories and inspiring meetings.
