Katowice – a city worth visiting!

The Modernism Trail (Szlak Moderny) is an urban route in the center of Katowice featuring buildings of unique modernist architecture built in the 1920s and 1930s – tenement houses, offices, villas, and even one of the first skyscrapers in Europe.
The Mural Trail (Szlak Murali) leads through the locations of the most fascinating examples of Katowice street art. Today, the urban landscape is adorned with works by many renowned artists, such as Daniel Sparkes, Aryz, Escrif, Etam Crew, MCity, Mona Tusz, and Raspazjan.
Katowice has played a massive role in the phenomenon of Silesian blues, which you can experience firsthand by exploring The Silesian Blues Trail (Szlak Śląskiego Bluesa). This musical route leads through the history of legendary music clubs and artists who performed on their stages. The trail’s dedicated app allows you to listen to recordings and discover anecdotes related to these places. More at: szlak-bluesa.pl
In the 1960s and 1970s, Katowice, with nearly a thousand neon signs, was one of the most vibrantly lit Polish cities. Although many of them later disappeared from our streets, the recently created Neon Trail (Szlak Neonów) allows visitors to discover reconstructed miniatures of the most interesting historical neons in their original locations.
Giszowiec and Nikiszowiec are two historic mining housing estates built during the heyday of Silesian industry. The exceptional architecture and remarkable history of these places make walking through their streets a true journey back in time, allowing you to feel the atmosphere of old, industrial Silesia.
The Culture Zone (Strefa Kultury) is a unique space in the very heart of the city, where three modern buildings were erected on the site of a former coal mine: the new headquarters of the Silesian Museum, the International Congress Center, and the famous concert hall of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. Right next to them stands a true architectural icon – the legendary Spodek.
